Description:

Penn State’s Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to contribute to the exploitation and continued development of the Astrophysical Multimessenger Observatory Network (AMON). AMON has been constructed as a central hub for the real-time analysis of transient astrophysical events, searching for coincidences between two or more signals of high-energy gamma rays, neutrinos, cosmic rays, and in the near future, gravitational waves.
The individual will work closely with participating observatories and will play a leading role in the growing field of multimessenger astrophysics. The candidate must have a PhD in physics or astronomy. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in gamma ray or particle astrophysics, gravitational wave detection, or transient astronomy. A strong background in computing is required, with a strong knowledge of Python especially helpful.
Applications must be submitted electronically at https://psu.jobs/job/68354 and include a CV, cover letter, and statement of research. Applicants should arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted to Ms. Randi Neshteruk at rxh1@psu.edu. For more information please see the AMON homepage at http://sites.psu.edu/amon/ and the IGC homepage at http://igc.psu.edu/.
