The Center for Underground Physics (CUP, http://cupweb.ibs.re.kr/html/cup_en/) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS, http://www.ibs.re.kr/eng.do ) in Daejeon, Korea invites outstanding researchers for tenure-track positions to lead researches on the underground particle astrophysics. At present CUP is conducting dark matter search experiments (KIMS, COSINE), a double beta decay experiment (AMORE), and a neutrino experiment (NEOS). CUP develops low-temperature phonon-scintillation detectors based on MMC sensors for the AMoRE and KIMS-LT and also develops ultra-low background crystal growing techniques. We further conduct R&D; for new detection technology for future underground experiments. The center operates Yangyang Underground Laboratory (Y2L) in addition to the ground laboratories at IBS headquarter in Daejeon, and are constructing a new underground laboratory by the year of 2019.
Candidates should have a strong research experience in either low temperature detector development or ultra-low level radiation measurements and purification. The appointment is a full time tenure-track contract, and the tenure evaluation will be made within six years. Starting salary ranges between \$70,000 and \$120,000 depending on career.
